Biography
Dr. Prather is one of only a few surgeons in central Indiana performing
the direct anterior hip replacement. After completing his training as an
orthopedic surgeon at the IU School of Medicine and University of
Louisville School of Medicine, he completed a fellowship at Steadman
Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas to further develop his joint replacement
skills. Dr. Prather’s enthusiasm for the anterior hip procedure
developed because it offers patients a much easier, faster recovery.
“I knew I wanted to do a fellowship after my orthopedic surgery
residency in Direct Anterior Hip Replacement. This method is so much
easier on the body, so people heal quickly. I’ve seen patients go home
the same day, many go home the next day.”
Dr. Prather married his high school sweetheart from Ben Davis High
School in Indianapolis; they now have two young children. Having played
varsity soccer at Wabash College, Dr. Prather is passing that passion
along to his children. He helps coach his children’s soccer and baseball
teams. He loves woodworking and restoring cars. The Prather family is
active with church, sports, school and family activities.
