Nursing Excellence

It is important that during your experience with us, you have the very best nurses that we can provide. During your stay with us, no matter how long or how short, inpatient or outpatient, you can count on your nurse to care about you and for you. The nurses are there to guide you through an unfamiliar procedure or treatment. They also coordinate your care with other members of the health care team to ensure your plan of care is followed and advocate for you.

How patients benefit from coming to a Magnet® hospital

Hendricks Regional Health has achieved Magnet® status, granted by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Magnet designation is widely considered the "gold standard" in patient care, the highest honor an organization can receive for nursing excellence. Research shows that Magnet® hospitals consistently outperform other hospitals in patient outcomes and satisfaction.

As of January 2023, only 10% of all health care organizations in the United States have achieved ANCC Magnet Recognition® status. These hospitals attract and retain nurses who are skilled at their jobs and who get adequate support from management and other staff. They are also more likely to have better nurse to patient ratios and may experience a lower percentage of human error in nursing care. Patients can expect to be cared for by knowledgeable, caring individuals. Magnet® means better patient care.

Hendricks Regional Health has achieved Magnet status

At a Magnet® hospital:

  • patients experience lower complication and mortality rates
  • patients have shorter hospital stays because of improved care
  • nurses spend more time at their patients' bedsides, resulting in higher patient satisfaction rates.

Magnet® hospitals:

  • attract and keep higher quality nurses which means better care for patients
  • require hospital-wide teamwork, designation indicates a hospital staff functions well as a team
  • offer opportunities for nurses to learn and develop professionally, helping create a positive, upbeat environment for the patient
  • are more likely to attract high-quality physicians/specialists.
