Support Groups

Hendricks Regional Health is proud to facilitate and host a variety of support groups for the community. Groups are designed to provide a supportive environment with opportunities to come together for sharing and learning. All groups are free to participants and registration is not required. Unless noted otherwise, all groups meet at the Hendricks Regional Health Danville Hospital.

Support Group Offerings

Bereavement/Grief Support Groups

These groups are facilitated through the Chaplaincy Department and are open support groups. Individuals are welcome to continue attending as long as they wish. Those who attend a bereavement group are free to move from one group to another. All groups address the experiences of grief for anyone experiencing or anticipating the death of spouse, child, parent, friend (anyone who had meaning in your life).

For more information, please call our Bereavement & Community Support Group Coordinator at (317) 718-4360. The days and times of bereavement/grief support group meetings are listed below:

  • Tuesdays 10 - 11:30 AM – General Grief 
  • 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the Month 6 - 7:30 PM – Loss by Suicide 
  • Wednesdays 5:30 - 7:00 PM – General Grief 
  • Thursdays 10 - 11:30 AM – Loss of Spouse/Long Term Partner Support

Improve Your Mood Support Group

Mood regulation issues do not discriminate. Many of us struggle with sadness, loneliness, anxiety, loss of interest in activities, low energy, and mood fluctuations. This group provides a space to meet with others to learn new skills to manage these challenges of daily living. This group is facilitated by the Chaplaincy Department. 

  • Group meets Tuesdays from 1- 2:30 PM at the Hendricks County Senior Center on Sycamore Street north of the Danville Hospital.

Food for Thought Stroke, TBI, and Neurological Disorder Support Group

Learning to live with the results of a stroke, traumatic brain injury, or neurological disorder can be frustrating and overwhelming. This group helps participants learn to cope with the mental, emotional, and physical challenges in day-to-day living when faced with changes in one’s abilities. This group welcomes all who are affected by these conditions. This group is facilitated by Chaplaincy and Social Services.

  • Group meets on the first and third Thursdays of the month from 4 - 5:30 PM

Cancer Support Group

Cancer C.A.R.E. (Compassion, Acceptance, Respect, Empathy)

This support group is for anyone who has or has had any type of cancer diagnosis. The group will be led by Social Workers. Anyone may join at any time.  Group meets: 

  • 2nd Monday of the month 3 - 4 PM
  • 4th Monday of the month 5 - 6 PM
